Why I Became a Professional Healthcare Advocate
I deal almost exclusively with Medicare issues, products, and services, although as
an advocate I have resolved Long Term Care insurance cases throughout New England and all over
the US –from CA to NY, VA to PA. I file claims and appeals for people having difficulties with LTC, Medicare, or life insurance benefits. I work closely with elder law attorneys and financial planners to
assist their clients with insurance issues, as well as adult children who find themselves overwhelmed
with handling their elderly parents’ financial and healthcare benefits.
Professional Organizations and Affiliations
I was the VP of a national medical case management software company. While I was traveling and visiting clients and potential clients for our medical case management software solutions, I was introduced first hand to the bizarre inefficiencies and counter productiveness that defines the American healthcare delivery system (Insurers, hospitals, providers, etc). Patients do not understand the process - medical bills and insurance benefits - mainly because the process is incomprehensible, inefficient, archaic, and inane. I decided, once I left that company, that I would use what I had learn to help guide clients through the claims and billing process, unlock the resources and benefits they are entitled to, and help seniors access the most value out of the assets they have. I now specialize in insurance benefits that affect seniors - Medicare, Long Term Care, and life insurance and annuities.
